SET to Grow: Announcing Trellis' 2023-26 Strategic Plan
At Trellis, Always Growing is more than a tagline. It is our foundational belief that growth is essential. When Trellis formed in 2020 it was not from a desire to be bigger but from the hope that by merging, we could provide stronger holistic supports to the people we serve. While this hope for our new organization was evolving, the community was facing unprecedented disruption of a global pandemic, economic uncertainty and an overall fear of what the future would hold.
Our first Strategic Plan (Taking Root) guided our steps, focusing on building a strong foundation that would support continual growth towards better services for people. Delivering on our purpose to make generational impact remained clear but the path to get there took unexpected turns as everyone learned to adapt to the ever-changing realities in the world. Now, with the foundation in place, we are ready to take the next big step towards fulfilling the promise of seamless entry into a continuum of services, or, as we call it: “One Door”.
Moving Boldly Forward
In the fall of 2022, our Board of Directors and Leadership Team came together to dream about what the future of Trellis could look like. Building off the success and challenges over the past two years, a vision for a community where everyone can flourish took hold and became the motto that propelled us through a comprehensive strategic planning process. Feedback was gathered from program participants, Trellis staff, donors, funders and community partners through consultation sessions, interviews and surveys. The feedback highlighted where Trellis was making an impact, where improvement was needed and where there were opportunities to grow.
A strong strategic direction and clear priorities emerged for us to deliver on the goal of One Door so that anyone who comes to Trellis has easy access to all services that we provide.
Moving towards 2026 and beyond, we will be guided by three bold priorities:
1. Simplify to Serve
2. Equip to Empower
3. Technology to Transform
As we act on these priorities, Trellis will be SET to Grow.
Over the last month we've been honoured to share more about Trellis' strategic direction during three important gatherings:
Team Trellis Celebration
This was a momentous day for Trellis! It represented the first in-person seniority event for our organization where we celebrated staff who have served with Trellis for two years all the way up to 25 years. While celebrating where we have come from we also looked ahead to the future by launching SET to Grow as a staff team. This is an important step as a strategic plan is just a plan until it is actioned. It will take everyone at Trellis digging deep into our impact to bring it to life and achieve these ambitious goals. We have the energy, the passion and the people who will make it happen!
Stewardship Breakfast
Trellis was honoured to host members from our community for a breakfast to offer gratitude to our supporters, share where we are headed and invite them to continue journeying with us. It was an exciting morning and Trellis is so grateful for the passionate and committed group of people who are behind our work.
Tea Dance Ceremony
The Trellis leadership team, along with invited guests, were honoured to participate in a Tea Dance Ceremony with Ceremonialist Karli Crowshoe and Elders Dr. Reg and Rose Crowshoe to start our strategic plan in a good way. This parallel process was an integral step in our commitment towards Truth and Reconciliation which is foundational to our work and direction.
